The British Museum collection includes artefacts from across the world. They represent the people and places of the past two million years. Below are introductions to a growing list of just some of the world cultures that can be explored in the Museum collection.

Buckingham Palace is the Queens London residence and is used to receive and entertain guests on state, ceremonial and official occasions. Buckingham Palace has served as the official London residence of Britain's sovereigns since 1837 and today is the administrative headquarters of the Monarch.

Canary Wharf is a large business and shopping development in East London. Canary Wharf contains the UK's three tallest buildings: One Canada Square,followed by 8 Canada Square and Citigroup Centre. Canary Wharf tenants include major banks, such as Barclays, Credit Suisse, HSBC and Citigroup, law firms such as Clifford Chance, as well as news media and service firms, including Thomson Reuters, and the Daily Mirror.

Covent Garden, London is famous for its shops, street performers, bars, restaurants, theatres and the Royal Opera House. Covent Garden is an Italian-style piazza packed with restaurants, bars and fashionable boutiques. Surrounded by Theatreland, in the heart of London's West End, the area is recognised as the capital's premier entertainment and leisure destination.

The building was constructed in 1928 and became a cinema in 1930. It is no longer used for movie premieres. It mainly hosts live stage shows and concert. It is now part of Live Nation - ClearChannel's entertainments spin-off organisation.

Harrods in London's Knightsbridge has gone beyond being a mere department store, and has become a tourist destination in its own right. Tucked away in knightsbridge, away from the main shopping area, this is the place to come to buy that chic green bag that wraps all purchases made here from a chelsea bun to a grand piano.
You can spend days wandering the floors. There is the extensive Food Halls on the ground floor,where the rich and the famous get their groceries, the cosmetic counters, a book shop, you name it, they have it.

Parliament is open to all members of the UK public and overseas visitors. You can attend debates and watch committee hearings, tour the buildings or climb the famous Clock Tower and see Big Ben.

Leicester Square is the centre of London's cinema land, and one of the signs marking the Square bears the legend "Theatreland." It is claimed that the Square contains the cinema with the largest screen and the cinema with the most seats (over 1600).

This theatre was pulled down to make way for Samuel Beazley designed theatre which opened in 1815 and was noteworthy for being the first theatre in London to be lit by gas.

Piccadilly Circus is a busy plaza in the heart of London at the junction of five major streets: Regent street, Shaftesbury Avenue, Piccadilly and Covent Street. The Piccadilly Circus is now partly pedestrianized and a favorite place from where to access the nearby shopping and entertainment areas. Soho, Chinatown, Shaftesbury Avenue and Trafalgar Square are all within walking distance.

St. James's Park is a Royal Park, considered by many as the most beautiful and romantic of the Capital's central parks. The lake is now a wildfowl sanctuary with Duck Island providing a home for the birds.
As well as tourists the park is also popular with office workers who jog, stroll, eat a picnic lunch and listen to the band in the summer. Why not also visit the Cabinet War Rooms alongside the park, or the Palace Mews.

Our central London terminal is pretty swish; the renovated Victorian station is a destination in its own right with boutique shopping and Europe's longest champagne bar. A range of shops, bars and restaurants, unlike anything ever seen in a UK station.

It has been the seat of British government and the living quarters of monarchs ... the site of renown political intrigue, and the repository of the Crown Jewels ... It has housed lions, bears, and (to this day) flightless ravens ... not to mention notorious traitors and framed members of court, lords and ministers, clergymen and knights.

Trafalgar Square is used for a wide range of events and activities throughout the year, including rallies and demonstrations, filming and photographic shoots, and promotional and performance based events.

Tower Bridge was instantly hailed as a London icon and one of the great engineering marvels of its age. Tower Bridge is an enduring symbol of London.
